Salt

Now that you all have completed this month's puzzles and quiz and are at a loose end, here is a question for all the
geologists, botanists, chemists and general layabouts. Whence comes the continuous supply of NaCl to keep the oceans
and (some) seas salty? Think about it, and for those who say "it is washed down by the rivers", there is a dunce cap
and stool in the far corner of the room. Help me out - because I don't know, and have not found anybody yet who
can logically or scientifically tell me.
